New To: - Nottingham City Transport
Chassis: - Volvo B10B-58 YV3R13F17SA001642
Body: - Alexander Strider AF20/9428/10 B51F
History
N613 YRA was delivered new to Nottingham City Transport in 1996. It was one of seven similar buses supplied at that time, but is actually part of a batch of 10 buses.
When bus manufacturers have a gap in their production schedules, they will often build a small batch of buses for stock, against short notice requirements by operators.
The other three buses from this batch were supplied to Redby of Sunderland, Volvo Bus, and Felix of Stanley.
During the mid-nineties, NCT were subject to competition on some of their routes, and in order to increase frequencies needed extra buses quickly, hence the seven buses being purchased.
It is a Volvo B10B chassis, which was a rear engined bus chassis manufactured between 1993 and 1997, when the chassis was replaced by the B10BLE, which was of a low floor design, enabling a step free entrance.
It is fitted with a front entrance Alexander Strider body.
Upon withdrawal, it was purchased by Poynters of Wye and continued in service until March 2015.
Following contact between Poynters and Nottingham Heritage Vehicles Charity, the vehicle was generously donated by Poynters to the Charity, being collected in August 2015.
It is currently mobile and awaiting full restoration to its original condition.
Relevance to Collection
Most of the NCT fleet was double deck, so this bus is an example of the few single decks bought by the company.
It is an example of the one offs, demonstrators and stock buses bought by NCT from time to time.
